space-time maps

We are beginning to grapple with how to show the fluidity of Ho Chi Minh City’s sidewalk life. People take turns using the space for different purposes over the course of the day and days of the week. This map begins to show the density of non-pedestrian uses and the hand-off of space between users. We are experimenting with different angles, scales, models, and animations to mediate between the intimate scale of the phenomenon and the neighborhood unit.
